Jaipur Trip That Started With Rakhi, Zero Planning and a Phone Inside a Drain
What started as a Rakhi family gathering in Noida turned into a completely unplanned Jaipur trip with no sleep, hotel hunting, and one unbelievable phone rescue from a drain.

A Jaipur trip that began with festival warmth, no sleep, a drowned phone, and the kind of chaos that somehow becomes a memory for years.
Jaipur Trip That Started With Rakhi… and a Phone Inside a Drain
Some trips are planned properly. Some happen suddenly. And then there are trips like ours — the kind that begin with Rakhi celebrations, zero planning, broken phones, panic attacks, and somehow still turn into memories you never forget.
This Jaipur trip happened a few years back when I was living in Noida. It was around Rakhi season, and my brothers had come over to celebrate together. The house already had that festive feeling — sweets on the table, random teasing going on every five minutes, everyone talking loudly at the same time, and absolutely nobody sleeping on time.
Like every family gathering, one discussion naturally started after another:
“Now that everyone is here… should we go somewhere?”
And that was it.
Within minutes, everybody became a travel expert.
One person wanted mountains. One wanted cold weather. One wanted adventure. And one person — probably the wisest among us — wanted a place where landslides wouldn’t block the roads during monsoon.
Our options kept changing every ten minutes. Manali. Shimla. Chakrata. Mussoorie. Rishikesh.
Honestly, the list was endless.
But since it was August and peak rainy season, traveling to the mountains did not feel like the smartest idea. Beautiful? Definitely. Risky? Also definitely.
So after a lot of back-and-forth discussions, we finally decided on Jaipur.
A royal city. Good roads. Amazing food. And most importantly — no mountain roads during heavy rains.
Decision made.
Or at least… that’s what we thought.
The Night Before the Trip Was Absolute Chaos
Before I even talk about Jaipur, I have to talk about what happened the night before our trip because honestly, that incident deserves its own movie scene.
At that time, I had an iPhone 14 Pro, and unfortunately, I had already dropped and damaged it earlier. So during those days, Siddhant was using that phone temporarily.
On Friday evening, while I was sitting at home doing my work shift, Siddhant and my brother decided to step out nearby to grab something to eat.
Normal evening. Nothing unusual.
And then suddenly… I got a call.
“Can you check if the phone is at home?”
The moment they asked that question, I already knew something was wrong.
I checked around. No phone.
That’s when panic slowly started entering everybody’s mind.
Thankfully, location was turned on in the iPhone. So we started tracking it. The location showed the phone somewhere near the food place where they had stopped earlier.
At first, we genuinely thought somebody had picked it up.
But surprisingly, the phone was still ringing whenever we called.
That tiny hope kept everyone searching.
The three of them kept looking around the same area again and again, trying to understand where the sound was coming from.
And then came the most unexpected part of the entire story.
Near that food stall area, there was a dirty roadside drain.
While standing there, my brother suddenly noticed something strange.
Every time they called the phone… tiny bubbles appeared in the drain water.
At first it sounded impossible.
But then it happened again.
Call the phone → bubbles.
Call again → bubbles.
At that moment, everyone realized something unbelievable:
The phone was inside the drain.
Now obviously, nobody wanted to put their hand inside that thing immediately. People were around. The place was dirty. The entire situation itself felt ridiculous.
So they waited for the crowd to reduce a little.
Later at night, when things became quieter, they somehow found a long stick nearby and carefully started checking inside the drain.
And then…
Boom.
The phone was actually there.
Still ringing. Still alive. Still working after sitting inside dirty drain water for so long.
Honestly, iPhone durability advertisements should have hired us after this incident.
The three of them somehow managed to pull the phone out and bring it back home. Everybody washed it carefully, cleaned it properly, and then… the phone switched off completely.
And after that, no matter what we tried, it refused to turn back on.
So now we had:
one broken phone,
one drowned phone,
zero sleep,
and a Jaipur trip starting early next morning.
Perfect beginning.
Leaving For Jaipur Without Proper Sleep
Even after all the chaos, the trip plan was still alive.
And honestly, maybe that was the best decision.
Sometimes trips happen at the exact moment you need a break the most.
Saturday morning, just after my shift ended, we quickly packed our bags and left from Noida.
No proper planning. No perfect itinerary. No luxury travel preparation.
Just tired people running on excitement.
The roads were calm because we left early, and slowly the city noise started disappearing behind us. Everyone looked exhausted, but at the same time there was excitement in the car that made the tiredness feel smaller.
Music was playing. Random conversations kept starting and ending. Half the people were sleepy. Half were hungry every thirty minutes.
Classic road trip behavior.
It took us around five hours to reach Jaipur.
And the moment we entered the city, the vibe instantly felt different.
The pink-toned buildings, wide roads, old architecture mixed with modern city life — Jaipur had its own personality from the very beginning.
But before exploring anything, we needed one very important thing:
A hotel.
The Great Hotel Hunt
Finding a hotel sounds easy until you are tired, sleepy, carrying bags, hungry, and traveling with multiple people who all have different opinions.
One hotel looked too expensive. Another looked too crowded. One looked good online but completely different in reality.
We went to multiple places before finally finding one that everybody agreed on.
That itself felt like an achievement.
The moment we checked in, nobody even wanted to move anymore.
Because honestly, after:
working overnight,
recovering a phone from a drain,
driving for hours,
and searching hotels in Jaipur heat,
our brains had officially stopped functioning.
So we decided to rest for a while before going out.
And that “short rest” turned into proper deep sleep.
Jaipur Finally Begins
When we finally woke up in the afternoon, everybody looked slightly more human again.
We freshened up, had some food, got ready, and slowly that travel excitement started returning.
The tiredness was still there… but now the fun part of the trip was finally about to begin.
Outside, Jaipur looked alive.
The weather had that monsoon softness in the air. Roads were active, local shops were buzzing, and the city had that perfect mix of chaos and beauty that makes Indian trips memorable.
And standing there, after the madness of the previous night, it genuinely felt nice to realize:
The trip actually happened.
And sometimes, those unplanned trips become the stories you remember the longest.
